An amazing run by her... 15:00 for first 5 kms. Sustained excellence. Hassan's Gold Medal performance in Paris at 2:22:55 looks a bit vulnerable after the Chicago Marathon run...

Her performance shows you the huge difference between shooting for a fast time and running to win an Olympic title. While Chepngetich's effort came on a flat course in great weather conditions with pacesetters, the women's race in Paris had no pacesetters and was contested over a brutally tough course in warm weather. It's interesting to note that Chepngetich had not been named to the Kenyan Olympic team after she finished ninth in 2:24:36 in the London Marathon in April.
