I will have my local contact on Mt . Elgon area check to see where he lives. They are very tribe/family oriented. You are right, lots os training bases. When I was at Mt . Elgon last year in July, locals had a 5k fun run for our presence. We did a medical mission to help the Mosopishek people.. The 5k was straight up mountain with about 1,500 vertical feet. Amazing stuff to watch them.

Johnny.. I am headed to Bukwo, Uganda in July. Will be the high altitude Area where our non-profit works. I wonder if Kiplimo will be there training. Went to that area last year.. Didn't meet him, but was introduced to another young Ugandan runner, Kenneth Kilrop.

I conducted a little more research about Kiplimo and it sounds like he is currently based at a training camp in Kapchorwa.

Hello Nathan. I am not sure where Kiplimo lives, or if he has training bases in more than one country, like many elite distance runners. However, it is my understanding he grew up in Bukwo on Mount Elgon. My guess is you might already be aware of that. Kiplimo is a tremendous talent. He has accomplished so much at such a young age (23). If he can stay healthy, it should be fun to see what he can do during the next 4-5 years. It sounds like Mr. Kilrop is quite talented. I conducted a little research on him and see he finished sixth in the U20 race of the World Cross Country Championships last year and he ran 13:15.90 for 5,000 meters last May. Not bad for someone who will not turn 19 until May.
